Brenna Thompson MS, RD, LDN

Please ignore the fancy letters behind my name.  They just mean I went to school to learn how food affects the body, and how different diseases affect your diet needs.  Even though a large portion of what was taught was wrong and outdated, I have learned a lot since earning my RD in 2009.  Gone are the days of low fat diets and munching on rice cakes, hello steak and butter! From 2012 to 2017 I worked for a company where I learned how to teach people that what they eat affects how they feel and how their body works.  But it sucked the creativity out of me.  So in November 2017 I took a leap; and quit after finding two very part time jobs.  One of them is with 3 psychologists at Stepping Stone Clinic. Then in December I got the best news ever, I was PREGNANT!  WHOA talk about a massive change.  I still practice a whole foods/integrative/functional way of eating and living. While I do believe most people feel their best eating a lower carb diet, I recognize that this is not right for everyone. Nor is everyone ready to make the changes that will truly support their body.  What I hope for people, is that they find what works for them and gets them the results they desire. I also believe that the diet you eat today, may not be the diet that is right for you tomorrow or10 years from now.

This blog is not just about health and nutrition and recipes.  I love sharing whatever happens to be growing in my garden (15 heads of lettuce in 2017), tips on travel and lifestyle, fertility/pregnancy, and parenting.  Instead of long winded blog posts I'll try to keep things short and to the point!  No scrolling through 15 pictures of the same bowl of chili to finally get to the recipe.

Food and life should be simple, not complicated. When life is complicated and too busy, we have less time for family and fun.

“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
-Eleanor Roosevelt
